There is a “photographer exercise” that I like to practice periodically which comes from a great book that I read years ago which I will confirm and then cite. Look for it in the blog after tomorrow but basically it has to do with shooting in a familiar space and in the case below that was from the area around me as I sat in the flight deck on a trip from DFW to LAX.

Thoughts

Mono photography is really in my mind just so pure. It really encapsulates what “photography” means: ‘to paint with light’. By removing the distractions associated with color you are left with shapes that are isolated and enhanced by the light and dark, shadows and highlights.

“Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph.”
